the a-side holds a hard-hitting, percussive techno-house hybrid that sounds a bit like an air frog production but features additional cool vocal licks on top. b-side has a basic, bass-heavy, pouding tech-house groove with strong detroit sound influences. strong!

after 2 very remarkable releases, the french label pilbus records is back on the offensive with this ep highlighting another label team member : macsim ganczarczyk. macsims minimal style is clearly represented in his part one original mix, decorated with dark tones mixed with cavernous atmosphere, and rolling around a heavy bass filling entirely the soundspace. you can feel the same darkness in the second track of this part one ep: a remix made by the probably most well known argentinian producer: franco cinelli, who shows his talent by completely changing the style of the original mix.

mikkel metal aka mikkel meldgaard is back on echocord with a new powerfull ep. after the latest succesfull full length album with tikiman here comes the next ep on >passenger ep< mikkel metal tries explores new facets of his sound and take a detour from the dub-technom, thats his usual trademark. while obviously still retaining a metal-signature, theres an opening towards a more raw dirty detroit sound here, thats clearly new to his production. opening track >further< is slow tough track with a heavy kickdrum and simple theme. in its austerity it might actually remind one of very early metal productions like >eight< from echocord 01. remaing tracks >no stars today< and >i dream< both build on a dirty simple groove and layers synths and distorted themes on top.

big with: basic soul unit, ame, ingo sõnger, oliver hafenbauer, dixon, sevensol, dirk rumpf,roland appel,.. back from the initial mild pitch release >this feeling< last year, ribn deliver their overdue follow-up entitled >light black ep< - three tracks as ambivalent as the title suggests! the title track is a mesmerizing house/technohybrid of colourful darkness, reminiscent of classic early ribn releases: meandering synths and hypnotic sound fragments crawl around a stomping beat while the crunchy bass loop keeps moving things forward irresistably. first up on the flip side is >sin & figs<, a warm and pathetic summer gem that is destined to soundtrack any sunrise over the next couple of months. rich layer textures and sweet little melodies make this piece one of the most emotional moments of the mild pitch catalogue to date. closing the ep on b2 is >stonedrum<, a slow-motion house treat with oddly pitched vocals, a subtle groove and heavy low-end. its masked and fragile funkyness and crackling background noises complete a complex image that requires more attention than a 30-seconds preview clip to get a clue..

steve lawler, luciano, carol cox, mandy, loco dice, ricardo villalobos, tiefschwarz matthias tanzmann and many more are all fans of leons work, so its not hard to see why people are already talking about him as a future star. leons remix for tim greens >iotan< (if-18) was already a bomb and now he delivered us to heavy house tracks which are just insane. >stars< and >corner of love< will def be played over the whole summer. on top of that we are pleased to release a yousef remix of >stars< as well.

here we have a double a-side 12-inch, with an intriguing new development of the secondo sound. still banging, still aimed at the club but with a sense of maturity and laid-backness, that the previous secondo material for dreck records might not have been centred around. the whole outlook has become more house orientated and we are very excited about this new mixture of the secondo splice-funk with the steadiness of early 90s house generating its own idiosyncratic sound. on the a-side, i think im gonna likeestablishes the housey mood of the 12straight off. a brief vocal sample is dotted over a relaxed rhythm until a break mid-track introduces the second half to its full extent and bloom. ædoktor panglosson the b-side continues with the mid-tempo flavour set out by the aside and is defined by a steady build up towards a disco sample beautifully placed towards the end of the track, where a heavy bass line cuts short the euphoria of disco strings. the sampling and references in both tracks have been pushed to the background and mentioning any of them would not do this exciting new material any justice. its all fresh!

cave paintings is a new imprint dedicated to rough as you like machine music that lives somewhere in techno, house and ebm territory. all the tracks are done live in one take on old analogue boxes for a loose, organic and spontaneous feel that its impossible to capture when using computers. for the same kind of reason these are only available on 12. the mastering and the vinyl itself are an integral part of the sound. on this first release side x is a ten minute straight-up bass-heavy skeletal club groove with hints of a latin vibe about it and side y is more grinding and pounding in a nitzer ebb on quaaludes fashion, relentlessly developing for a full fourteen minutes

the droids beamed down to planet earth in the year 1978. yves hayat aka droids, was a young label manager at the seminal french disco label barclay in the seventies. >star peace<, originally released in 1979 is his concept to the classic sci fi movie >star wars< out that year. featuring the french space synth classic >(do you have) the force<, in both parts, this lp goes from strength to strength with spaced out lullabys >inner space< & >tchough fou<, before kicking back into the groove with >be happy< an assault to the senses with its manic synth lines running riot over heavy funk overtones. the flip kicks off with >shanti dance< parts 1 & 2, sleezy robot-funk work outs that are inter-joined to make a 6 minute continually evolving piece of music. the closing eight-and-a-half- minute >renaissance de l amour< is a tour de force of cinematic synthscapes, bleeps, bloops and world rhythms, before dropping in the drums 6 minutes in to ignite any dancefloor. this is light years ahead of its time.
